I would imagine a good book club discussion of it would probably venture into very personal territory though, so it might be better for book clubs with friends who know each other rather than strangers. I think this book might intimidate some more casual readers, but it's actually a fun and fast-moving story, and it's one that I really enjoyed. It also helps if the authors are well-known. “It was the day my grandmother exploded.” The late Iain Banks always had a knack for great opening lines and his sixth novel has one of the best.
